2023 - English School of La Cruz

    We didn’t travel out of the country like most people did in 2021. We decided to return to Mexico in 2022, unfortunately due to a reaction the COVID booster shot we were unable.

    2023 got off to a late start as three years left much to repair and replace.

   

   We began school the second week of January. A new restaurant took over our space and Aurna kindly allowed us to use the upstairs of Octopus Garden. We had fewer teachers and a smaller space. We decided to limit enrollment to those 8 years old and cut off at 50 students. It was difficult turning away eager young minds.

    So we began. Geoff, Val, Sue and Gigi as my experienced base teachers. We were fortunate to have several teacher assistants.  Even another Della helped Geoff with his being the largest class. Gigi ‘s daughter and niece helped and Dorothy and Debbie helped Sue. The attendance this year was excellent. It was a smaller space and fewer students and teachers but it didn’t take long for everyone to hit their groove. It’s a wonderful experience and the children who have been with us for years all proof positive of our school working. They have very good retention even with a 3 year sabbatical.

    

    

    Scotty remains my right hand man assisting check in and keeps my printer working.

    As usual the teachers are like our own little family here and we meet for a drink on Tuesday at the Tree House restaurant.

    We have such a good relationship with the students and many of their parents. I always leave La Cruz with a smile and the teachers and students are a large part of that feeling.
